Albany Tip-Off Classic

The Cougar boys basketball team honored Albany staffperson Kenny Mitchell Saturday by dedicating their annual pre-season jamboree to the popular campus fixture.  Six games featured teams from throughout the bay area, with the Cougars taking care of their business with a 72-41 win over Kennedy-Fremont.

"Kenny is the best," said junior guard Julian Bryant.  "He supports us and always has a positive outlook."

The Kenny Mitchell Classic drew hundreds of fans during a busy day of hoops.  Bryant and Mateo Rodriguez led the Cougars with 18 points apiece, followed closely by David Wolf who tallied 16.  Sophomore center Zander Motamedi had his best game as a Cougar with 7 points and 6 rebounds.

Albany continues to play stingy defense, as they have held opponents to an average of 36 points per game through four games.
